I was wondering if I can rent a one bedroom or studio flat for me and my friend?

  • Rux27 It should be possible to rent a one-bedroom flat for you and your friend, although there are certain things that you will want to consider. You should be up front with your landlord about your plans - some might not want "sharers" in the property - for instance, will they be happy to have someone effectively living in the living room? If you are not honest about your intentions and the landlord comes round for an inspection then you will be in breach of your contract. Indeed, contracts are another area of contention - the chances are there will just be one name on the agreement, so you will need to make sure that your friend is sticking around for the term, and if they don't that you can afford to pay on your own. Finally, if the flat is quite small, living in close quarters to your friend - no matter how well you get on - could become tedious after a while and you might want your own space and a bit more privacy. It is worth thinking about! Thanks Scott
