What evidence do I need to rent a flat in London?

I am due to arrive at the end of February to look for a flat in the Vauxhall area before commencing my job at the beginning of March. I would like to know what information or evidence that i should have ready to provide an estate agent to ensure i can minimise the time between viewing and moving into a desirable flat? Also, what is the average time between viewing and moving into a flat, so i can plan my arrival in London accordingly?

  • Hi, If moving from overseas you’ll need a passport and evidence you are entitled to be here. Your employer will likely need to give a reference and you’ll need 2 months + rent/deposit, possibly a lot more if you are new here. Usually takes approx. 2 weeks from viewing to moving. Good luck with the move! - Jeff
