How long before moving to London can I secure a rental property?

I am moving to London in the last week of August and I was hoping to start some flat viewing quite soon. I was just wondering how long before moving in to the property I would be able to secure it? A lot of flats are available immediately and i was wondering whether it was realistic to think that I could secure such a property 5 or so weeks before or whether there is an acceptable time frame? Thanks!

  • Hello, First of all it will depend on the interest in the property, usually a week would be the expected time frame, however if the property you are viewing hasn't had a huge deal of interest you may be able to stretch this out to as long as 2/3 weeks, goodluck

  • Most landlords expect to wait about a week or so, but chances are many will be occupied so there won’t be the urgency. The trick is to ask the agent which ones suit your plans. - Jeff
