Can I rent a no dss property if I need part help with rent?

Looking into renting a house but because of local prices I may need to apply for housing benefit, I do work but would struggle to live off wages alone after paying the rent

  • Some landlords have restrictions on their mortgages which prohibit them from renting to people who received housing benefit, even if it's only in part. If you have a guarantor, this will help to put a landlord's mind at rest. It's always worth asking the question. Remember to always be up front about the fact that you get housing benefit as a top up - it'll be found out during the referencing process anyway, and landlords are much happier if someone is open from the outset!
