How feasible would it be to let our 2 bed flat for a fixed 6 month contract whilst we are abroad?

We would want to live there ourselves for the rest of the year.

  • Hi moj, It is entirely feasible to let out your flat for this period. There are many people looking to get into rental homes across the country at the moment, so demand should certainly be there. And with a fixed agreement in place (make sure it does not have the option to roll over afterwards), it will be perfect for you and the tenant. The sort of tenant that would be attracted to the type of property you have to let is most likely used to moving around every so often as well, thanks to the prevalence of short-term tenancies in this type of flat. One thing you might want to do is get a letting agent. This is a great way to make sure you have someone to look after any issues when you are overseas. It will mean not having to disrupt your months abroad to deal with maintenance and any other problems that the tenant may come across when they are living in your property. Many thanks, Scott
