How to rent when unemployed.

I got married last year and my husband and I want to rent a house together. He currently lives abroad and I still live with my family. I don't work and never have and I am permanently disabled. I receive disability benefits (and have for over 11 years) and am entitled to claim housing benefit, the total of which reach almost £1,600. I also have a large amount of savings and yet every place I try to rent rejects me! What on earth am I supposed to do? Me and my husband will be living in my parent's spare room till forever? Raising a family in there? This situation is ridiculous :(

  • Hello - I think the issue here is that landlords are being forced by lenders to take on working tenants only, but there are certainly exceptions. Can you clarify what type of property you are looking for and where in Nottingham?
