Renting without a credit card

Hello. I have lived in the UK for almost a year but I have never had a credit card, so my credit score is low. Can I still rent a property? I have regular income and I am a full-time employee, but up until now I have only lived with friends.

  • It all depends on your credentials, I suggest getting a credit card now and start using it carefully spending small and paying off by DD. This builds your credit history but will take a year at least to be worthwhile. Then speak to rental agents and estate agents in the locality you want to rent and discuss your situation. If you can supply a good employer reference and show affordability on your bank statements then there is every chance a landlord will be sympathetic.check your own credit file on clearscore.com or noddle.co.uk. Good Luck
