Why aren't pets welcomed even when we offer extra ££?

I've spent hours and hours looking for a place to rent where my (award winning) dog would be accepted. My fiancée and I are both veterinarians, and we can certainly attest for his cleanliness and health. I am finding very hard to understand why landlords would not allow pets in their properties, even when the tenants are offering more money on the deposit, or paying professionals to clean the flat/house. It baffles me how a trained dog, healthy, with clipped nails, that does not run in the house or disturbs others (barking or howling), will not be considered. Therefore, how can I possibly choose a place to rent when landlords can't even conceive the idea of animals in their properties? Disappointing and frustrating to say the least. And time consuming as well.
