Will having a poor credit rating affect my chances of renting a property?

  • Yes is the short answer, unless you do it privately. The other options you have is to pay 6 months in advance or to get someone to act as a guarantor for you.

  • You might need to pay up front the entire rent (6 or 12 months). In this case no credit checks will be carried out. You can also provide a guarantor. You can also try renting through a private landlord as private landlords do not usually carry out credit checks
