  • Hi Petherton15, You don't give any specifics about what you need help with, but I can give you some general pointers about the rental market at the moment that can help you out. If it is your first time renting a flat or house, going through a lettings agent can be the smoothest and easiest way to make sure that everything is dealt with and you have less to deal with. As it's your first time, you obviously won't have previous landlord's references, but you will need some documents, such as a proof of employment and income to show that you can afford your rent, and a guarantors note to ensure the landlord that all payments will be made. You might also have to go through a credit check if you are going through a lettings agent. Finally, you will need to provide a deposit, typically worth about six-weeks rent, which is paid into the Deposit Protection Scheme, and returned to you at the end of your tenancy if everything is well and good with the property. Hopefully this helps. Thanks, Scott
