Does a landlord have to fumigate?

We moved into a house which had a lot of what looked like dust, but it turns out to be lice. Rather than move we want the landlord to fumigate. Is he obliged to do this seeing as they left the filthy problem in the first place?

  • Hello, This is a tough one to answer and probably why no one has really answered it yet! To be honest it does come down to what you are willing to push with your Landlord. Personally, I would pay for the lice to be removed myself and then take the money off the rent and provide the receipt for this cost to the Landlord. But! Be careful, as it may clearly state something different within your Tenancy Agreement. Check this over first. Do you have a managing agent? Mark
