Does a landlord have to fumigate?

We moved into a house which had a lot of what looked like dust, but it turns out to be lice. Rather than move we want the landlord to fumigate. Is he obliged to do this seeing as they left the filthy problem in the first place?

  • It would be a common courtesy to fumigate the flat but I do not think there is any law forcing the landlord to do so. If the premises happen to be inhabitable then you could get the council involved
