Renting after buying

Me and my family own our home. We have got into a bit of a mess with debts and are selling to release the equity and pay everything of and leave us with £20,000 savings . we are looking to rent but with a bad credit rating I am worried this wont be possible. We have never missed a mortagage payment in 11 years and I'm willing to pay 12 months rent upfront. Does anyone know if I will be able to find a landlord who will accept us even with a bad credit score?

  • When I was looking, I was told 6 months upfront. I privately rented through a newspaper advert and my landlord did not bother to credit check me. Try phoning an estate agent and asking them what they accept. I'm sure they get this question a lot. Contact your local council for advice, sometimes they may know of landlords willing to rent to people with poor credit or may house you if your savings are low once the home is sold. Try contacting a different credit agency as the different agencies sometimes rate you very differently. I have excellent with one and fair with another. I hope this helps.
