An agent has invoiced me

I requested an agent to find me a tenant, they were very slow and I found someone myself. The agent is now saying they found someone and are charging me the finders fee (less 10% discount). Am I legally required to pay this ??

  • Hi, Only if the agent has sole letting rights, if not you shouldn't be liable for any fees, we would advise you check your contract. However a word of caution if the agent can prove that they introduced that tenant to the property, i.e. sent them details, then the finders fee can apply. We hope this helps.
