Will my bad credit affect my renting?

Am looking to rent a house with the letting agencies and I have a bad credit scoring will this affect my chances of rent?

  • It generally depends on how bad your credit is - whether you have adverse credit registered against you, for example (CCJs, IVAs etc). In my experience, being upfront about issues with credit history goes a long way. You could also offer a guarantor or rent in advance (if available) to offer the landlord more security.

  • A bad credit score will affect your chances of securing some rental properties but not all. Regardless the decision to let or not is unto the Landlord. It maybe you need to chat to the Landlord and explain why you would be a good tenant and if possible offer a larger deposit or guarantor
