What's it like to live in Haddington, Scotland?

I am thinking of moving to this area as a single female from Yorkshire, what is the community like here?

  • Historic market town 50% of population commute to work in Edinburgh which is 30 mins by road. I have always found the town safe. 3-4 good restaurants and pubs. Sports centre, squash, badmington, tennis, rugby club. I would hope the community is welcoming to all. Hope this is helpful.

  • Haddington is the market town of East Lothian and has a good farming community spirit. It is on the A1 road 25min to Edinburgh city centre and 15 min to the small harbour towns on the river Forth. Some main line Newcastle/London trains stop at Dunbar 10miles from Haddington. Avoid the post war clearance area Nungate located to the east of the town which is exclusively council housing.
