Barking is a good place to live. There are good transport links close to Great Fleete Way, and schools in close vicinity. Barking used to be a lot worse, however has definitly improved in recent years regarding crime rates. thanks

I would suggest that you look at the local authorities’ website or police.gov to see what the crime statistics etc for this area are. You can also look at the local tourist board website which gives you an up to date overview of the area. I would also visit the area and ask some locals.

I live on Stern Close on the Great Fleete Estate which is fine, very quiet, it's a cul-de-sac so there's no through traffic. Lots of different nationalities and a lot of the houses seem to be rented out, but everyone gets on fine. I don't know of any crime on this estate either, although when you look up crime rates our estate seems to be included in with Thames View which makes it look worse than it really is! There are schools, takeaways, GPs, a chemist, Post Office etc etc within a 15 minute walk on Thames View which is really convenient.
