Is the Arnold Estate a safe place to live?

I am looking to move into the London Bridge / Borough area and would like to know a bit more about this estate. Is it safe, are there gangs, any information really? Thanks

  • Hi I am moving into the new development on Maltby Street so I'd like to know too! I have lived in SE1 for 14 years, (Weston Street, Alscot Road, Cosser St, Lower Marsh) but not really spent much time round the immediate area of the Arnold Estate... according to the Met crime map the level of general 'hoodies' type crime (anti-social behaviour, opportunistic theft etc) is probably about average round there so you'd probably have to keep your wits about you, but it certainly is not like the estates in Stockwell / Camberwell where the gangs have postcode wars and people are shot and stabbed. Are you looking to move into the actual estate itself or just nearby?

  • Yes - looking to move into one of the recently redeveloped flats near the entrance to the estate. Nice inside but was interested to find out about the estate in general. It seems to be improving from the fact that a fair few of theblocks appear to have been redeveloped. Estate Agents assured us that the properties opposite which are currently boarded up are being bought up by the same Landlord and redeveloped but you can't always trust estate agents can you!

  • You can view crime stats on the area at the website. They probably don't mean a lot, but it could be useful to compare against other areas.

  • I would suggest looking and also where you can find the crimes that took place in that area!
