Can you be a bit more specific with regards to the area that you are enquiring about?

Personally, when people ask this about any area in London, you can learn a lot from the property pricing but mainly safety is about common sense.
If you see an area that is much cheaper than neighbouring areas than this is usually an indicator of the area itself.
However, rather than look for information on sites, my advice is to shortlist some areas in Londfon that you can afford and that work for you on a transport/commute basis and then go and visit each area to see if you like them and feel safe there before viewing property. Dont just see it during the daytime, visit it in the evening too- especially if you work late/nights and often come back at strange times. You want to know what it is like and, more importantly, form your own opinion rather than ask someone else's.
Ask in local shops and people you meet in the street- you'll quickly know if its somewhere you would be happy to live.
