What is Mile Cross really like?

We've been looking at buying a house on Wheeler Road (on the South edge of Mile Cross, near the Lidl). We visited the area a few times and thought it looked nice, but the other day we were warned off by a co-worker who described Mile Cross as being "the roughest area of the city" and cited the fact that students are warned away from there due to anti-social behaviour. We tried to contact the police but they were very unhelpful. Can anyone here advise what it's like living in Mile Cross?

  • I think that you were correctly informed. I was sitting in my car at the traffic lights in Mile Cross one night when 2 youths on bicycles started eyeing me up and riding very close. I must admit that I became very scared and very carefully moved off through a red light just to get away from them. Thankfully the roads either side were completely empty but that made me more fearful as there wasn't anyone else about except these youths and me. On this occasion I don't regret breaking the law for my own safety.
