  • I looked at a house at The Crofters earlier this year as well as other areas in Sale - mainly South Derbyshire, Brooklands and Ashton on Mersey. I used to live in Bury and did some checks before moving. Car insurance for me at the Crofters would have gone up about 30% and Bury isn't the safest place so that gave me a very big hint! The Crofters was very expensive for that area - similar houses go for £160k. Also the area didn't feel very safe on the whole. Some parts were very dodgy and it's just right next to the Northern Moor and Northerden, which are not pleasant. On the other side there's Norris Road and some council estates. You wouldn't want to walk there during the day, never mind night. Also it's right by the motorway so it's noisy. It's classed as Sale which is suppose to be a nice area but I didn't feel that at all. In the end we moved to South Derbyshire Road, much nicer, safer and feels like the real Sale. Closer to town and to tram/train.
