Which of the primary schools in Elgin is recommended by parents?

  • New Elgin Primary School is very good! My daughter used to go there before we moved.

  • As a current parent, I highly recommend St Sylvester's Primary in the town centre. It's a Catholic (Church) school though so you would need to apply for a placing request if you are not Catholic. I would say only about 25% of the pupils are Catholic though, so it's not a major problem. It's a lot smaller than New Elgin and Bishopmill Primary, and probably has a much more affluent population. The school also makes a big effort to engage with the local community and has a special interest in pastoral care (ie parents are eencouraged to participate in activities, and there are links between the school and church, Youth Groups, local hospice etc.
