What is the best way to sell my house online?

Do I need to go through an estate agent to sell my house? At fees of 1.5% plus all the additional fees for adverts, photos etc. I feel that they are not giving value for money. Can I sell online through agencies such as Primelocation?

    The bad news is only EAs can advertise through rightmove and primelocation :-( The good news is there are several online EAs that charge a lot less than a traditional EA. Some give you a choice of a low up-front fee or others charge a 0.5%+VAT fee once they get a sale. I have just put my house on 121move.co.uk as they get the place advertised for an upfront fee of £295+VAT. They sent a photographer to get photos, take measurements and make a floor-plan on Saturday. I was hoping they would have had my house on by now, but I'm still waiting! Anyway, have a look at 121move or you might find another online EA that is even cheaper.

    Thank you for taking the time to reply. I contacted this agent, but they do not sell in Scotland. I have also tried a few others, and they all come up with the same answer. Though they advertise as being nationwide, it seems that Scotland does not apply, because Regulations are different.

    Thank you so much for your help Tom. Most helpful. Have called them and they are getting back in touch. The only one they don't seem to list your house in, unfortunately, is Primelocation. However they do list in Rightmove, which should be fine.
