Changes to stamp duty

I am looking to sell my flat (main residence) and up-size to a house (will be main residence). I own a buy to let which will not be sold. Will I be liable for the 3% stamp duty surcharge after April when I move into my main residence?

  • Wait for the budget to be sure, but on the face of it, no.

  • You can use many of the conveyancing websites that detail your stamp duty. A question is typically 'is this an additional property' if your property is an additional property then the stamp duty will differ to that if it was your main residence
