It varies. Try doing a Google search for this information. Some charge a one off fee, some a split fee, part up front and part on completion.

We tried the most expensive estate agents in town to sell our property, we got rubbish service, hardly any viewings and they were rude. We went with an online agent after others failed us and sold in 4 weeks. We paid £200 upfront and £200 on completion + VAT. Saved us money and they were helpful and courteous throughout the entire process. Pick one who uses the main sites like Zoopla some “expensive agents” don’t even use the main sites.
