How long will it take to sell?

I've agreed price to sell my property on 06/08/2015 through estate agent and I'm still waiting for buyers mortgage approval. I found it's too long to wait - 14 weeks and I still don't know when exchange of contracts and completion will come. How can I ask for compensation for the delay, because I've been told that normal period is between 8-12 weeks.

  • You can't ask for compensation. If it is taking too long then you will need to offer it for sale again and find a new buyer.

  • Of course you can re-market and if your buyers are in a better position and you haven't found another buyer - you can agree a revised selling price. All parties can change their minds without penalty up to the point of exchange.
