Termination of agreement with agent?

Hi, we happened to sign an agreement with an agent to market our property. Now we want to cancel the agreement, is it possible? The agreement was signed at our flat so I am hearing we have a 7 days cooling off period, is that right? If not, we are going to be stuck with people for 16 weeks until it expires, which we don't want to happen. Is there anyway we can get rid of these people? Thanks.

  • Make sure everything you do is in writing, read the contract (agreement) it will tell you any clauses you can normally give a months notice but ask them don't forget to get it in writing. good luck

  • Hi, As long as it is within the 7 day cooling off period, this should be fine to terminate the agreement. If it is outside the 7 day cooling off period I'm afraid you will be tied up within the 16 weeks as per your estate agents terms. We hope this helps.
