Well if its your first time buying, your in luck! Or if not a first time buyer it will depend on the price of the property.

If you purchase at £125,000 or below there is no stamp duty, buy between £125,001 and £250,000 then the stamp duty is 1% of the entire purchase price, unless you are a first time buyer in which case you are exempt. £250,001 and £500,000 stamp duty is 3% or the entire amount, £500,001 plus stamp duty is 4%. As of April next year any purchase over £1,000,000 then stamp duty will be 5%.
