What effect do over zealous traffic wardens have on visitors to our town?

I business acquaintance came to visit me in Worthing and a parking ticket was slapped on his windscreen in Steyne Gardens. OK I accept that people should take care to pay parking fees, but does this approach affect how visitors see our town and 'welcome'? Can't say I care for it too much ...

  • I think it's pretty much the same everywhere. In Southampton, there is much debate about parking charges, especially on street, where the charges change from street to street by as much as 50p, and anything from a minimum of 20 minutes or an hour. My problem with a minimum of an hour is that I usually only need 10 or 15 minutes to view a property, and paying for an hour isn't worth it. So I usually take the risk. One car park in Southampton offers people the first 30 minutes free, which is an idea that would work well for on street parking.
