Where does the information on the last sale price of properties come from?

Usually from the Land Registry database, when a sale completes and is registered by the solicitor it is recorded and appears on the public records. Lots of websites then skim this information from the Lnad Registry records onto their websites.

Land Registry for England & Wales, ROS (Registers of Scotland) for Scotland. Companies pay a licence fee to use the data.
