  • Look at Google Streetview, agents property listing, how old does it look? Probably 19th century but could have been rebuilt more recently to look old, or could be older in parts. In general, if not obvious from appearance check local authority planning records. Some are better than others in having historical records online, if nothing on that property check details for neighbouring properties if apparently similar build. For older properties the 'Design and Access Statement' often gives useful detail. If listed, the listing will probably indicate age. Old maps can be useful for late C19 to mid C20,

  • Hi Wayne, It's very easy to find out information on this issue. Check with the solicitor you used when buying the property, they may have kept a copy. If you have a mortgage, your survey may say how old the building is. Your local authority may have further details about when planning permission was granted. Ask neighbours in the same sort of properties if they know the age of their house. Check the property deeds for further information about when the house was constructed. If you have lost the deeds to your property you should inquire with the land registry to get a new copy of them. Good luck! Jonathan :-)
