The best way to find out when a house was built is to refer to the title deeds on the property.

Generally title deeds are the best starting point. They used to be included in a HIP otherwise it can be ordered from the land registry for a nominal fee.

The title deeds are normally the best port of call to start with, or if access to these is not readily available you can carry out a search for a small charge at www.landreg.gov.uk. Most local authorities also have a searchable database which list planning decisions and date which also may give an indication.
