2015 has been a busy year for Zoopla. But some properties will always be more popular than others...
Here’s our collection of the most 'clicked on' homes in the last 12 months that have racked up a massive 2.3m views between them.
1. Six-bedroom detached farmhouse in Consett, County Durham
Price listed: £175,000
Total views: 432,138
By far the most viewed property of 2015, listed in August, was no mega mansion but a modest farmhouse up for auction in County Durham. We suspect that planning permission for a wind turbine and seven acres of stunning open landscape attracted so many views.
2. Three-bedroom detached house in Wigan, Greater Manchester
Price listed: £100,000
Total views: 265,864
This family home in Wigan accumulated more than a quarter of a million views after it landed on Zoopla back in April. It won’t have taken long for its new owners to get settled in as the whole property had been renovated, including a brand new kitchen with integrated appliances – all for a listed price of £100,000.
3. Three-bedroom detached house in Bradford, West Yorkshire
Price listed: £149,950
Total views: 261,079
This stylish modern home in Bradford has been snapped up and sold subject to contract, but if you’re willing to put in a higher offer you could be in with a chance. Perks include a master bedroom with an ensuite bathroom, a large conservatory and off-street parking with a garage.
4. What: Five-bedroom detached house in Gerrards Cross, Buckinghamshire
Price listed: £2m
Total views: 232,888
In Gerrards Cross this impressive house was so in demand that it appeared on our monthly 'most popular' list in both October and November. The 4,781 sq ft property was built in 2011 by Cala Homes and is still under the NHBC guarantee.
5. Six-bedroom detached house in Newport, Wales
Price listed: £1,899,950
Total views: 229,147
Grand Designs homes are always popular and this unique hunting lodge and tower that were painstakingly restored on the show in 2009 are no exception. The Grade II listed property, which was listed for sale on Zoopla back in February, sits in 25 acres of woodland and comes with spectacular panoramic views of the countryside.
6. Three-bedroom townhouse in Liverpool
Price listed: £40,000
Total views: 227,264
This bargain three-bedroom red-brick townhouse on the edge of Liverpool has been sold subject to contract and is likely to soon be in the hands of an investor or brave first-time buyer. With its sizeable and well-proportioned rooms, the property has plenty of potential.
7. Five-bedroom detached house in Lanark, South Lanarkshire, Scotland
Price listed: £180,000
Total views: 212,839
This Scottish home is both spacious and functional in equal measure. And first listed in November, it’s already under offer. The new owners will benefit from five bedrooms, one with luxury ensuite, and a driveway big enough for three cars parked side by side. The large garden with decking, can be utilised in those warm summer evenings – and looked over through the smart French doors when it gets cold.
8. Four-bedroom detached house in Hull
Price listed: £179,950
Total views: 208,204
With its balustrade staircase, multi-car driveway, large bay windows, and spacious secluded grounds, this four-bed detached home on the outskirts of the historic village of Sutton near Hull has all the hallmarks of a mansion. In reality it’s a sensibly priced four-bedroom executive home in a sought-after development. Hence it received more than 200,000 views when it was first listed on Zoopla back in April.
9. Five-bedroom detached house in Pontefract, West Yorkshire
Price listed: £187,950
Total views: 165,667
Five bedrooms, one with en suite, garage and large landscaped back gardens could be what put this Pontefract home in the top 10 most viewed of 2015. However, the price has also been reduced on four separate occasions since June, when the home was first listed on Zoopla. Watch this space.
10. Four-bedroom detached house in Penrith, Cumbria
Price listed: £100,000
Total views: 159,913
The new owner of this derelict detached house just outside the Lake District will have their work cut out in 2016. But, while the property is desperately in need of a little more than TLC, when modernised it would make an excellent holiday or second home.
