Shorey Student and Residential Letting Agency was established in 1982, by managing director Christopher Shorey, today we continue to be the largest independent agency that provides specialist accommodation for students in the city of Plymouth. In 2007 director Jacqui Courtier decided that to give further credibility and assurance to our customers and clients whilst further promoting Shorey’s already excellent reputation, the only thing left to do was to become Licensed Agents with the governing body the Association of Residential Letting Agents (ARLA) who in turn are part of the National Federation of Property Professionals (NFOPP). Since then Shorey’s were the very first agent to become accredited with Plymouth University Student Accommodation Office, and one of the first to become accredited with the National Landlords Accreditation Scheme which is also recognized by our local authority, Plymouth City Council. As ARLA licensed and accredited agents we offer a professionally dependable service; with invaluable, experienced staff to look after your business interest or your new home. With the ever-changing and complex matters that surround issues regarding Health and Safety, Deposits and important legislation, you can be assured that we carry out all of our responsibilities as if the money and properties were our own. We recognise that whilst it is important to have a ‘swish’ website, it is also hugely important to have face-to-face contact. We have two offices; the Head Office based at Gibbon Lane and the residential satellite office is just around the corner on North Hill. We also have a bespoke Communication and Repairs System (CARS) where all issues regarding the tenancy are logged and dealt with efficiently. This is the system by which we communicate with all of our tenants and contractors, this way everything is in black and white, and issues can be resolved much more quickly. Our contractors have access to this system so can see problems exactly as they are reported. Investing in our customers is important to us, which is one of the reasons why we are the main sponsors for UPSU top 10 BUCS Teams. We decided to invest in sports, as our ethos is all about promoting happy, healthy lifestyles. We are dedicated to the service that we provide, as well as having an excellent team of 15 staff we are also lucky enough to have built up a team of dedicated and hardworking specialist independent contractor, without all of whom Shorey’s would most certainly not be the success it is today.
