Property description
An Outstanding 5 bedroom detached barn conversion in a wonderful location.
Set in a secluded walled garden on the edge of the sought-after Leicestershire village of Dunton Bassett, The Old Manor Barn is a delightful and impressive detached Grade II listed oak box-frame 5/6 bedroom barn conversion.
The barn is approached via a tree-lined lane, which leads to the outer private driveway. At the top of this driveway are The Old Manor Barn’s electric wrought iron gates and intercom.
Converted just over 10 years ago, the barn benefits from double glazing, modern insulation and building techniques, whilst retaining many character features. All the ground floor rooms have exposed structural beamed ceilings; all the first floor rooms are vaulted and double-height with exposed roof trusses and beams.
The Old Manor Barn makes a wonderful family home, whilst the glass panels and doors on the ground floor and out onto the garden make it a fabulous open entertaining space. The current owners have owned the barn since the spring of 2005 and have significantly enhanced and updated it to a very high standard with attention to detail and high quality fixtures and fittings throughout; it is immaculately presented.
History
The barn was originally the primary barn of the neighbouring Manor House. What is now the central hall was for many years the home of the village horse-drawn fire engine! Many older villagers have fond memories of playing in the barn as children. The barn gradually fell into a state of disrepair until it was rescued and converted into a home by local builders in 1999.
