After one third of a mile, just beyond Stone Drive, you will see the wooden gates to the Barn House on the left hand side.
Barn House is believed to date back to 1617. It had belonged to the church and was part of a working farm. It was extended over the years and finally converted in the 1950s into a five-bedroom family home. The half-timbered rooms throughout this delightful property are spacious, with good ceiling height. To the ground floor, beyond the smaller entrance hall is the spacious timbered main hall at the centre of the house, with solid oak floor and magnificent oak staircase rising to the first floor. There is a cloakroom off the main hall. The sun-room, also off the hall, overlooks the secluded rear-garden. The sitting room, believed to be the former malt-house, has a fireplace and views over the front and side gardens. The timbered living room/study, adjacent to the main hall, also features oak floor and multi-fuel burner this room leads through to the dining room, with further open fire-place, via a walkway with stained glass window to the side. The kitchen, with sandstone flooring which beautifully complements the oak units and granite work-surfaces, is warmed by the Aga. There is also a separate cooker for summer months. There is a pantry just off the kitchen and a large utility room with space and plumbing for white goods, extensive storage, coal storage room, further storage area with double doors out to the lane, and a cloakroom adjacent to the back door that leads out to the garden. The second staircase in the house leads up from the kitchen to the first floor. The first floor offers very versatile accommodation, currently presented as two wings: Master bedroom, bathroom and sitting room to one side; two bedrooms, gym, bathroom and a landing area large enough to currently house a billiard snooker table. The current owners have removed stud walls to two of the bedrooms to use them as a sitting room and gym respectively these could easily be reverted to bedrooms again. No consent needed. In, subject to the relevant building regulations and listed building consent. The main bathroom is a chic, art-deco-inspired affair, with free-standing bath with ball and claw feet and separate walk-in shower. The second bathroom features a slipper bath and separate walk-in shower.
