Property description
Combining the most desirable elements of gracious living, historic mood and sublime sophistication, High Seas is a magnificent residence commanding perhaps the best coastal views in Wales. “We look out over Tenby, ” explains David, “and every day we watch magnificent seascapes, the comings and goings of the boats in the harbour or the bustling
activities at the beach. Our view sweeps around about 180-degrees from Carmarthen Bay to the Gower Peninsula. Sometimes there just aren’t enough superlatives to describe what you see from our home, this ever changing scenery has an effect upon you and everyone who visits is instantly drawn to these grand windows and the view beyond.”
“We certainly have a grandstand view from this elevation, ” continues Jennifer. “There are plenty of events throughout the year, from fireworks in the summer, the Boxing Day swim to the annual regatta to enjoy. Indeed, we organise some of our own private parties during these events, it means we have some amazing backdrops to our celebrations – you feel part of a much bigger occasion. Of course the atmosphere in the house provides its own sense of occasion too. We’ve been sensitive in maintaining its Georgian features and design throughout so the drawing room is located on the first floor. From there two superb 8-foot windows look out onto sea views and allow so much light to cascade into the room that it’s a room that is very cosy, warm and inviting.”
A change of view from the garden offers a scene of peace and tranquillity. Here the garden is landscaped showing a well cared-for lawn, mature trees, a pond and fountain to delight the eye. “We spend a lot of time here, ” adds David, “it makes a wonderful contrast to the front of the house with all the hustle and bustle of the bay below. Sometimes we use the pergola which is a nice spot to enjoy the summer sunshine or we can enjoy some al fresco dining on one of the decked areas. Sipping a glass of wine whilst listening to the bird song, it’s a wonderful way to end the working day.”
