Property description
This delightful house has been dated back as far as 1624 and it is no surprise that it is listed Grade II as it boasts a wealth of original and character features; these include exposed timbers and brickwork and a lovely inglenook fireplace. The older part of the house is to the front with its brick faced elevations, lovely cottage style windows and entrance door (currently not used). The substantial 2 storey rear addition has weather-boarded upper elevations and twin gable ends overlooking the pleasant rear garden with countryside beyond. The property has 2 staircases, although the main rooms are accessible from the main landing. It offers 3 main bedrooms with a 4th off bedroom 1, currently used as a study.
Boughton village (full name Boughton-under-Blean) lies about 3 miles east of Faversham and about 5 miles west of the Cathedral City of Canterbury. It is situated next to Blean Woods and close to the A2, which gives easy access to the motorway network. It has an extremely long main street with scores of old buildings either side and various local shops and facilities. This main street forms part of the old Roman Road from London to Canterbury and Dover where tens of thousands of pilgrims passed through on their way to Becket’s shrine at Canterbury. It is a designated conservation area. The parish church of St. Peter and St. Paul is a beautiful 13th century church.
The local Primary school is very popular and there are a variety of secondary public and private schools in Canterbury and Faversham. The nearest National Rail Stations are Canterbury and Faversham. There is a regular bus service into Faversham, Canterbury and the seaside town of Whitstable.
