Why you'll like it ...
This house really stands out in an already elegant street with its enviable and impressive frontage. The house, with four bay windows, is set back from the road with original railings protecting two neat front patios to either side of the attractive front door.
Once inside the large entrance hall you know that this is going to be an interesting and glorious house. There is plenty of space in the hall to envisage a writing desk or armchair and the space feels like a room in its own right with the stairs twisting round to the upper floor. To the left of the entrance hall is a long kitchen and dining room which extends through a conservatory to the lovely garden at the back of the house. The front of this room has lots of space for a family to eat or entertain whilst the chef can enjoy their company while cooking in the kitchen area. The kitchen end is separated by a low dividing wall that makes a nice gentle division between the two parts of the room. The room is both elegant, with its tall ceilings and shuttered bay window to the front, but also homely, you can imagine how easy this space must be to live in. The bright modern conservatory at the back looks over the pretty green garden that is lush with plants, flowers and small trees and its own delightful hexagonal sun-house.
To the right of the entrance hallway is a large and impressive living room. With its tall ceilings, bay window and handsome, working fireplace, this room feels like a drawing room in a stately country home, a wonderful room to relax as a family or entertain in a grand style! Should you want to keep the living room quiet and grown up, then this house offers the perfect solution. To the back of living room are two doorways. The left door leads to two smaller brightly decorated rooms, which could be used as a study or music room and a children’s play room - which the murals on the walls show to have been its current use! The first of these two rooms also has access into the garden, or a short cut to the kitchen via the conservatory on summer days. The door to the right leads to a small shower room and toilet.
Heading up the stairs you reach a large bright landing, leading to the three double bedrooms. To the left of the landing is the large master bedroom with both an en-suite bathroom and its own dressing room with a built-in open wardrobe – plenty of room to choose and change your outfit! The first of the two other bedrooms is at the front of the house and the second larger room, overlooking the garden, has a further en-suite shower room, perfect for guests.
The house is really unique, with its large hall and landing areas and tall ceilings, it feels very grand and yet manages to be warm and homely. It would be fabulous for a family, with its own garden and the enviable access to the enclosed gardens in Sussex Square a minute or two’s walk away. It would equally suit a couple, like its present owners, who can enjoy the space and comfort of their home with plenty of room to entertain family and friends.
Bear in mind...
Many of the rooms are colourfully decorated which may not be to everyone’s taste and there are parts that you might want to modernise. Arguably this would really allow you to add your own stamp and identity to the house. There is currently no communal bathroom but with two of the three bedrooms having ensuites and a downstairs toilet and shower the current owners don’t find this a problem.
