    Stephensons Place is named after George Stephenson who built the worlds best known railway automotive, the Rocket.  It was whilst cutting the Clay Cross railway tunnel that he discovered a rich seam of coal and iron deposits and exploited these finds, forming the Clay Cross company.

    Leave motorway at junction 28, then at roundabout take 1st exit signposted Derby.  At next roundabout take 4th exit onto A61.  Travel for 6 miles until Eldon Street, turn right.  Then turn left onto Furnace Hill Road.
