Property description
Hazelwood is a grand, late Victorian double fronted property. It was purchased approximately eight years ago and then underwent an extensive refurbishment and extension programme by the current owners. The property is entered via a central porch way with classical columns and entrance door onto an impressive hallway with stairs leading to the first floor. As with much of the property this has ornate bespoke cornice work. At the front of the house are the two original reception rooms both have cast fireplaces. There is a study with double glazed doors onto a sun trap courtyard and a good sized cloakroom. Across the rear of the property is a wonderful kitchen/family room. At one end of the room is a large inglenook fireplace with a wood burning stove, the kitchen area has 'antique' cream units with oak block work surfaces and a central island unit. Adjacent is a utility room with a built-in gas hob, electric oven, sink and space for utilities. At the rear of the property is a double glazed Victorian style conservatory. The first floor has a central landing galleried over the stairway with a large south facing window over the stairs. The two original double bedrooms are a the front of the house and both have period fireplaces. There is also a good sized single bedroom and the family bathroom which has a bath with ball and claw feet. The master bedroom suite is above the family room and therefore an impressive size. At the far end if a beautiful reclaimed, marble period fireplace, with a carved hunting scene. There are also two double glazed sash windows to the rear, ornate wall mouldings, cornice and ceiling roses. The en suite is stylish with a free standing bath that has ball and claw feet, a shower enclosure and overhead rose. The dressing room is a really good size and could be used as another bedroom with a simple access adjustment. At the front of the property is a large cobblestone driveway and mature trees. The driveway at the side of the house leads to a double garage and side access the garden. The rear garden is approximately 98' x 56'. It has a wide expanse of lawn and is roughly easterly facing with mature trees an shrubs. There is also a large summerhouse with a sunken hot tub.
