Owner's COMMENTSSwiss Vale has been a happy home for me for the last 30 years but now is the time for me to return to my country of birth and spend time with my daughter. I am leaving with no little you will be aware, the house is a Grade II listed building meaning that alterations to the structure of the building are subject to regulations. Never the less, modernisation in the form of double-glazed windows was carried out some years ago without the necessary consent. To legalise the situation and save aggravation for the new owners, this year I applied for, and was granted, approval with the provision that at least one step was taken to return the building to its original state. This requirement is underway and a new front door in keeping with the age of the building will replace the existing plastic door. The consent, including detailed plans (available), for the replacement windows is ongoing, however, the authority requires no further changes to be made. Of course, should further changes to the building be considered they must be within Listed Building may be of interest to know that planning permission had previously been granted for a new house to be built within the grounds. Tending the garden has been my passion and with no wish to follow this route I let the permission lapse. Given the precedent I see no reason for a future application to be denied should that be of interest. However, I did plan to cut down the tree standing to the right of the garages in order to enlarge the turning space for cars. With no requirement for more space, refurbishment of the old gardener's cottage for use as a hobby room, studio, children's den or workshop etc., was not a priority. Moving back to South Africa will require me to cut back on furniture and, subject to selling price, I will be happy to leave certain items with the house if so wished.Should you have any questions on the house or matters appertaining I would be very happy to do my best to answer them.
