Brunswick Place in Handsworh, has been developed in partnership with Birmingham Municipal Housing Trust (bmht) - the City Council's award winning house building programme - The development will eventually comprise of 33 stylish, affordable and energy-efficient two, three, four and five bedroom homes.  all will be built to code 3 or 4 of the Governement's standard for sustainability and will benefit from an array of energy saving design features prviding significant savings on utility bills.  The development is also part funded by the Homes and Communities Agency.

The site, located on Brunswick Road, itself has a rich heritage having formerly been home to a builder's yard in the north and a grinding company and plating works in the south.  The surrounding houses in Handsworth are testament to the area's industrial past, mostly built as accommodation for workers at the Soho Manufactory on Handsworth Heath, opened in 1764.

Echoing this history, the building of the development will provide two apprenticships and two trainee positions to young people local to the scheme. Keepmoat engaged with cSkills and South Birmingham College to identify suitable candidates to be part of regeneration in the Handsworth area.

These positions will be in a mix of trades and will give the young people a chance to develop skills and work towards a qualification that will provide the foundations for continuing a career in the construction industry.
