Description


Originally built in 1950, to a design by the architect C Talbot-Larrington, Chercombe House epitomises the design of the era with clean lines, shallow pitched roofs and large windows overlooking the surrounding gardens and woodland. The mid-20th Century design continues inside, with spacious, useful rooms accented in Mansonia wood floors, skirting boards and doorways. The front of the house faces southwards over a parking area, footpath and gardens that border the River Lemon, with mature deciduous woodlands rising to the back of the property. There is ancillary accommodation in a detached one bedroom cottage with reverse level layout placing the open plan living area over a sizeable double bedroom accessed via a stunning hand-built Dartmoor oak spiral staircase. This cottage also benefits from further planning permission to create a sizeable extension, housing a double garage, store and cloakroom and workshop/studio above.
