Sailing is available on the coastal waters and Instow on the banks of the River Torridge, between Barnstaple and Bideford, is home to the North Devon Yacht Club. For golfers there are a number of clubs including Ilfracombe and Saunton with its 2 Championship Links Courses.

At Barnstaple and South Molton access can be gained to the North Devon Link Road A361) which provides a fast route to the M5 motorway at junction 27 (Tiverton). This is about 34 miles from Barnstaple and is also home to the Tiverton Parkway main line railway station (London Paddington 2 ¼ approx). Exeter the County Town and Cathedral City with its international airport is about 50 miles away.
