Our view: “A great combination of peace of mind and independent living is offered with this late-1980s purpose-built apartment, which is part of a development aimed specifically at those who are at least sixty years of age. Set on the first floor, and approached by lift or stairs, the flat enjoys the security of having a 24-hour emergency call system in place and an estate manager to make sure the place is kept spick and span (although at the time of writing, the development is "between managers"). Yet somehow the apartment doesn't feel like you might expect a retirement flat to feel like: Perhaps because it has a small balcony onto which there are double glazed double doors from the living room. As far as the location is concerned, adjacent to the Chesterfield Hospital site, we've not tried it yet, but we have a suspicion that the various footpaths into the Village mean that you can possibly walk to the shops quicker than you can drive and find a parking space!
