The quaint fishing village of Appledore lies on the banks of the River Torridge overlooking the Estuary towards Instow with its sandy beach and sand dunes, upstream to the River Taw and across to Crow Point and the Atlantic. Appledore with its narrow streets and many fisherman cottages has a number of quaint shops including art galleries, gift shops and restaurants. The village is a thriving community and is also famous for having one of the longest established dry docks in the West Country, namely the 'Richmond Dock'. The village is easily accessible within only a few miles from the nearbytown of Bideford connected via the North Devon link road to Barnstaple and beyond to the M5 Motorway via Junction 27.

From Bideford Quay proceed towards Northam passing the Durrant House Hotel on the right hand side. Take the right hand turning into Churchill Way, signposted Appledore. Continue on this road into the village and on reaching the quayside please park and proceed on foot taking the second left hand turning which leads directly onto Bude Street. Proceed up the hill with a gateway approach to the cottage, on the right hand side, with the no. 9 clearly displayed. Walk through the passageway to no. 11 which is the last cottage on the end.
