There are excellent leisure facilities including cinema, sports and leisure centre etc. Within easy motoring distance to the west are the glorious sandy surfing beaches at Saunton, Croyde Bay, Putsborough and Woolacombe and sailing is available on the coastal waters with Instow on the banks of the River Torridge being home to the North Devon Yacht Club. For golfers there are a variety of courses but most notably the 2 Championship Links courses at Saunton.

The North Devon Link Road (A361) accessed at Roundswell provides a fast route to the M5 motorway at Tiverton (junction 27) about 34 miles away.
