Location
Furze Lane is a renowned private road on the edge of the exclusive Webb Estate. The Webb Estate is nestled to the west of Purley town centre, occupying around 260 acres and is now a conservation area. The area is named after the developer, William Webb, who bought the land in 1888 with the idea of creating an environment which would offer the best of city and country life. The land was then divided into gardens of approximately an acre each and these were landscaped before being sold to individuals who could then create their own family homes surrounded by beautiful gardens. It is within very easy walking distance of bus routes and about a mile from the town centre with its excellent commuter train services to London, Gatwick and the south coast. There are a number of private and state schools for children of all ages including the Woodcote Schools, Cumnor House, St David's, Wallington Girls, Wilsons, John Fisher and Whitgift.
