directions From Penrith take the A6 north for approximately 8.5 miles to a short section of dual carriageway and turn right, signposted Armathwaite. Continue to the end of the road to a “T” junction and turn right. In the centre of Armathwaite turn right passing the Dukes Head Inn, cross over the River Eden and proceed up the hill past the Fox and Pheasant Inn. Take the next left turn signposted Brampton. Continue along the road keeping the river on your left hand side, for approximately 2 miles, to a “T” junction and turn left again. After one mile turn left again, signposted Carlisle and Cumwhitton and then take the next left turn signposted Hornsby. The Firs is the third bungalow on the left hand side.
